Amaveni hall turned into a criminal haven; councillor

By Prisca Manyiwa-Masuku

Amaveni hall, in Kwekwe’s oldest surburb, has been reportedly turned into a hiding place for criminals terrorising the Amaveni community; a council official has revealed.

Speaking in a full council meeting held at town house last Friday, Amaveni councillor revealed some disturbing news about Amaveni hall and stadium.

A former glorious recreational facility for Amaveni community has been allegedly turned into a criminals hub.

“Amaveni hall is in shambles and the renovations that have been done and that were being done have been reduced to nothing because it needs a revamp again.

“It has now become a house for criminals in Amaveni, all hooligans who kill people and rob residents are sleeping in that place because in Amaveni we have agreed with the residents should not house anyone that they do not know. So it’s clear that those criminals are staying in that hall and some are staying at the stadium.

“If we go to the hall at night you will find people sleeping there and I have seen children playing soccer ( chikweshe) inside the hall,” said councilor Makomborero Mlambo.
