Former Kwekwe Mayor Angeline Kasipo of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has bounced back after winning back her seat as councillor for ward 10 in Kwekwe.
Kasipo returns to Kwekwe City as Councillor after winning the 26 March by-elections, following her recall from the seat by MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora last year.
Speaking to Impact Stories Zimbabwe, Kasipo expressed her delight over the electorate’s confidence in her.
“The outcome was as I expected.
“I made promises to residents both in 2018 and I intend to push for their fruition once I get back into council.
“In ward 10 our biggest challenge is the issue of water, I will work hard to see that this issue is solved, said Kasipo.
Kasipo says she also got some lessons from the recall.
“I leant that in politics never count anyone out. The whole saga was to destroy the then MDC Alliance, but it has bounced back stronger,” said Kasipo.
Kasipo will be working with Mayor Future Titora who took over her mayoral position soon after she was recalled.
However, Kasipo said she does not have any problems working under the leadership of Titora as the Mayor.
“Working with Mayor Titora should not be an issue. You see when I was the mayor I did not see fellow councillors as my subordinates. I was simply the leader.
“We are all councilors representing our various wards so it is her turn to lead and I don’t anticipate that I should have problems with it, ” she said.
Kasipo won the battle against Tichaona Mulambo ZANU PF and Aaron Gwalazimba MDC-ALLIANCE.
