Queen of Peace Institute for Community Mental Health Innovations and Rehabilitation was conferred with the Conquerors Association of The Disabled and Vulnerable (CADAV) national philanthropic award for its achievements in mental health and combating drug and substance abuse in the Midlands Province.
The inaugural CADAV national philanthropic awards ceremony held at Jameson Hotel in Harare on 29 July 2023 was attended by at least 50 community-based organizations across the country.
It recognizes the efforts of organizations making a difference in their communities.
Queen of Peace founder and Executive Director Mrs Stella Khumalo Punungwe said, “this award is testimony to the great work that the Queen of Peace is doing in the Midlands Province.
“Being recognized by other organizations shows the amount of trust and confidence that others have in us. Our agenda is to continue making mental health, drugs, and substance abuse a national priority.”
Queen of Peace Institute for Community Mental Health Innovations and Rehabilitation, (formally Queen of Peace Rehabilitation and Crisis Centre) is registered as a private voluntary organization (PVO 28/13) and it was founded in January 2006.
Since its formation, it has set itself as the go-to organization in solving mental health and drug and substance abuse issues in the Midlands province working closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Department of Social Services, and various other partners in the province.
The organization offers various services that include residential rehabilitation and crisis center, addiction treatment and rehabilitation, counselling, occupational, and vocational training services.
