Midlands Police launch manhunt for gruesome cattle slaughterers

The Zimbabwe Republic Police in the midlands province has launched a manhunt for thieves who slaughtered six cattle worth US$4800 at a farm in Lalapanzi on Saturday night.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a man-hunt for unknown suspects behind a case of stock theft which occurred at Plot number 19 Gando in Lalapanzi. The incident occurred during the early hours of 21 January 2023,” said Midlands ZRP spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are that Evans Dzvairo aged 48 who is employed as a herd boy by Mr Robert Dhliwayo at the plot allegedly penned 31 cattle at around 1800 hours and later retired to bed at around 2200 hours.

On 21 January 2023 at around 0700 hours Dzvairo woke up and discovered that 6 cattle had been slaughtered inside the kraal.

Three of the cattle had been completely deboned whilst 3 had the lower parts deboned.

The police have made an appeal to the members of the public to assist the police with information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits.

“Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information leading to the suspects to visit their nearest police station or contact the Midlands Provincial Anti-Stock theft coordinator on cell phone number 0773 048 674 or on landline 054 222 5503,” said Inspector Mahoko.
