Lions Club Kwekwe donated a wheelchair to a former ZIMASCO employee of Mbizo 5 suburb in Kwekwe, Mr Philip Gasela (64), who has not been able to walk for years after suffering from autonomic dysfunction for close to 40 years.

Philip Gasela’s condition has been continuously deteriorating since he was diagnosed with the disease about 40 years ago.

Gasela could neither walk nor work to fend for his children.

Speaking to Impact Stories Zimbabwe, Gasela appealed to well-wishers for financial assistance, to purchase his monthly medical supplies.

“I was diagnosed with automatic dysfunction. It comes with other sicknesses. So I need different sets of drugs that require over US$200 per month.

“I am not employed. My condition does not allow me to do any work. Im in pain most of the time,” said Gasela.

Gasela is father to three graduates namely Godwin Gasela a Fitter Mechanist, Rukudzo Gasela a Pharmacist and Primrose Gasela an Electrical Engineer.

However, all his children have not secured any form of employment and this has worsened the family’s situation.

Gasela has also appealed to well-wishers for assistance in securing employment for graduate children so that his life may improve.

” I lost my wife in 2017, So my children are my only hope. Yet they are all not employed. So I kindly appeal to well-wishers to assist my children to find jobs,” he said.

Lions Club Greater Kwekwe president Lion Monica Zivengwa said Lions Club is always there to assist the needy in the community.

“We were told about uncle Gasela’s condition so we came here and we assessed the situation so we found it worthy to assist him with the wheelchair and we partnered with Lions Triangle for the noble initiative, ” said Zivengwa.

Those who are willing to assist Gasela can get in touch with him on his mobile number +263773015396.
