Partners in Hope: CABS, TM Pick n Pay Join Forces With Kidzcan To Combat Cancer

By Catherine Murombedzi- Health Correspondent

For many in Zimbabwe, cancer diagnosis often comes too late, and treatment costs can be crippling. Even when diagnosed early, the financial burden forces many to seek alternative treatments, leading to tragic outcomes. The fight against cancer demands collective effort.

In a heartwarming gathering at the Rainbow Children’s Village, a safe halfway home for children receiving cancer treatment, located in Belgravia, Harare, Valerie Muyambo, CABS’ Chief Finance Officer, presented a remarkable donation to Kidzcan, a non-profit organisation supporting children with cancer.

Representatives from Kidzcan, TM Pick n Pay, and CABS shared a common goal; making a difference in young cancer patients’ lives.

Valerie Muyambo acknowledged cancer’s devastating impact on children and families, emphasizing the importance of organisations like Kidzcan. They provide essential medication, support, and encouragement during the most challenging times.

This marked the second year of CABS’ partnership with TM Pick n Pay in the fight against childhood cancer. Throughout February, CABS pledged a donation to Kidzcan for every swipe on a CABS POS machine at TM Pick n Pay stores. The result was a beautiful US$30 000 donation.

“Cancer is a devastating challenge for anyone, but it is especially heartbreaking when it affects children. No child should have to endure such a battle at such a young age. The emotional and financial toll it takes on families is immense, and it is in these moments that organisations like Kidzcan become a beacon of light.

“They provide not only essential medication but also unwavering support and encouragement to children and their families during their most difficult times. This marks the second year of our partnership with TM Pick n Pay in the fight against childhood cancer.

Just as we did last year, for every swipe on a CABS POS machine at TM Pick n Pay stores during the month of February, CABS pledged a donation to Kidzcan,” said Muyambo.

Cancer’s devastating impact on children and families is a stark reminder of the importance of organisations like Kidzcan, which provide essential support and care during the most challenging times.

“Our partnership with TM Pick n Pay and Kidzcan demonstrates the power of collective effort in making a tangible difference in the lives of young cancer patients and caregivers,” said Muyambo.

As Valerie Muyambo handed over the donation, the room was filled with applause and smiles. The donation will support Kidzcan’s mission to provide care and support to children with cancer. The partnership between CABS, TM Pick n Pay, and Kidzcan exemplifies community spirit and compassion, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
