Zimbabwe To Host 2025 Francophone Week Cultural Celebrations

Zimbabwe is set to celebrate Francophone Week celebrations showcasing rich cultural and linguistic diversity. According to information released by the French Embassy in Zimbabwe, Harare is about to celebrate the richness and diversity of the French during the Francophone Week to be held from March 8 to 23, 2025.

The  annual event, which highlights the French language and Francophone cultures around the world,  offers a platform for intercultural dialogue and exchange.

Organized by Alliance Française de Harare in partnership with eight  embassies  namely France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Romania, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt, the Francophone week promises a series of exciting activities celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of the French-speaking world.

 The organizers said that the festivities include a conference, film screenings, exhibition, live music, workshops, activities for schools and  some gastronomy.

 “La Francophonie is a melting pot of cultural and linguistic diversity  and the Francophone Week is the ideal opportunity to celebrate this richness,”  Fanny Gauthier, Director of the Alliance Française said.

  There will be three  highlights of La Francophonie 2025, the screening of  eight  films from different countries from the 8th to the 18 of March, 2025, the Mixx Concert on the 15 of March, and the Buffet de La Francophonie.

From March 8 to 18 March,  audiences will have the opportunity to discover a varied selection of films from different countries, all with English subtitles.

 The organizers promised something for all tastes and ages including  family films, dramas, romances, documentaries and even science fiction.

  Screenings are expected to  take place at the Alliance Française, and admission is  free.

The organizers said that a week later, on Saturday 15 March,2025,  at the Alliance Française, a concert will bring together musicians from Burkina Faso, France and Zimbabwe for a unique and original musical experience.

 “Whether you are  a fan of energetic marimba beats, rumba grooves or smooth western African pace,this event promises to immerse you in the rich diversity of Francophone music,” the organizers said.

 The week will conclude on march 23  there will be a Francophone buffet.

 French is spoken in no less than 29 countries.
