Zimtrade warns public against fraudulent social media scam

By Wallace Mawire

Zimtrade, the national trade development and promotion organization of Zimbabwe, is warning the public against fraudulent social media pages impersonating the organization and it’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Allan T. Majuru.

In a recent statement shared with the media, Zimtrade said that one such entity, operating under the name “Zimbabwean Pride Trading” on platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp, is reported to be falsely representing itself as Zimtrade.

Zimtrade says that the social media accounts solicit money from unsuspecting individuals under the guise of a profit-making programme. Zimtrade says it has no affiliation with the pages, groups, or any content these platforms generate.

The organization also added that the fraudulent activities are aimed at deceiving members of the public.

Zimtrade urges members of the public to exercise caution, avoid engaging with or sharing personal and financial information on the mentioned platforms, and refrain from sending money to anyone claiming to represent Zimtrade in such schemes.

Members of the public have also been urged to report such fraudsters to the nearest police stations should they come across such activities.
